What Capsyra and OmniCapsule actually are
What is the Capsyra Ecosystem?
Capsyra is the company behind OmniCapsule, and the wider structure that makes long-term, provable preservation actually possible: independent storage providers, a dedicated funding body in the Capsyra Foundation, and clear governance over how your data is kept and verified. None of it depends on any single provider, technology, or company decision.
What is an OmniCapsule?
It's the container your data actually lives in. Each OmniCapsule seals your data together with a running cryptographic proof trail, so at any point you can verify it's exactly what was originally stored, rather than take someone's word for it.
What happens to my archive if Capsyra ceases operations?
Two things make this possible. Your data's custody and integrity evidence are never held in one place, they're distributed across multiple independent legal entities and locations, so no single operator going under takes your archive down with it. On top of that, part of what you pay upfront goes directly to the Capsyra Foundation, an entity kept legally and financially separate from Capsyra's own operations, with one job: fund the preservation of existing archives. So if Capsyra itself were to close down, your OmniCapsule stays both accessible and funded, for the full period you've already paid for.
How is this different from a normal immutable cloud backup?
Immutability on its own just means a file can't be edited once it's stored. OmniCapsule does more: it keeps building a proof trail over time, so years later you can verify exactly what was stored and when, instead of simply trusting that nothing changed.
How does this compare to traditional cold storage?
Cold storage usually means a single copy sitting with a single provider. An OmniCapsule spreads your data across several independent providers and locations and layers ongoing proof of authenticity on top. You're not just holding a copy somewhere, you can actually verify it's the original.

Why is paying once upfront safer than a subscription?
A subscription only lasts as long as someone keeps paying it, which for a ten- or twenty-year archive is a real risk, budgets shift, contracts lapse, companies change hands. With an OmniCapsule, you pay once, and that payment funds the Capsyra Foundation directly, covering your full retention period from day one. There's no renewal to miss, and no future finance team that needs to remember it.
How does OmniCapsule support GDPR, NIS2, and other retention obligations?
It gives you clear, verifiable proof of what's stored, for how long, and whether it's ever been touched, the kind of evidence most retention frameworks, GDPR and NIS2 among them, actually ask for. Whether that fully covers your specific obligations depends on your situation, so it's worth checking the details with your legal or compliance team.
How can an auditor validate this independently?
They can check where your data physically sits, confirm nothing about it has changed, and review how its preservation is funded, all without needing anything from Capsyra directly. You don't have to take our word for it, and neither do they.

How it fits with the tools and formats you already use
What happens when encryption standards change, like with quantum computing?
OmniCapsule is built to be upgraded as encryption standards move on, without needing to relocate your data or start over. That's really what "independent of technology" means in day-to-day terms.
Can I export my archive and verify it without Capsyra?
Yes, at any time, in its original format, and you can verify its authenticity on your own without needing Capsyra's systems to do it for you. That independence is a big part of why the proof is genuinely yours.
Can I use OmniCapsule alongside my existing backup software?
Yes. It's built to sit alongside whatever backup tools you're already using, so you don't have to rework your daily backup process just to start preserving what matters most for the long term.
What file formats are supported?
Nearly anything: documents, databases, and more. OmniCapsule keeps whatever you store intact and verifiable for decades. Whether it stays easily readable that far out depends more on the file format itself than on preservation, and that's worth planning for separately.
